The Research Fellow will contribute to the research activities of a newly established Centre of Excellence in Cancer Carer Research, Translation & Impact.

They will work closely with the Centre's management team, with other research staff at Deakin as well as government, private and non-government organisations.

The Research Fellow will develop and undertake research studies that aim to improve the experiences of people supporting someone through cancer care.


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Support development of the Carer Centre and contribute to the conduct of research
  • Develop and manage research advisory and working groups as appropriate for different research projects and develop communication strategies
  • Assist the research team with preparation, review and maintenance of study documentation
  • Undertake project management and implement online surveys, using Qualtrics, REDCap or Qualtrics
  • Be familiar with different research methodology including experience in gathering and analysing qualitative and quantitative data
  • Disseminate findings, including presentations and papers for peer review and communicate outputs to wide range of audiences including the community, government, health services, and other health discipline(s)
  • Initiate, design and conduct highquality research, scholarship activities generating high impact outputs
  • Build track record of timely delivery of outcomes for industry partners
  • Supervise honours students and mentoring to HDR students

Key selection criteria for this role:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline, such as psychology, nursing, public health, and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Expertise and demonstrable experience in psychosocial/supportive care/health services, psychology or nursing research
  • Evidence of collaboration and research methodology skills
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, research project management
  • Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications, and/or success in obtaining external research funding
  • Ability to undertake quantitative and qualitative analyses of research data
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and a wide range of community organisations and people
