The Role


Overseeing our Richmond and Hawthorn theatres, you, as the Theatre Manager will be responsible for working within the senior leadership team to ensure the implementation and use of effective and efficient processes to allow the team to deliver exceptional patient care.

With a strong focus on continuous improvement in clinical governance, patient satisfaction, business development, risk management, building engaged teams and driving a culture of accountability.

You will be part of the Operating Theatre team and report to Director of Perioperative Services. This role is open to a part time or full time engagement.


Epworth Richmond is a rapidly growing, fast-paced and dynamic teaching hospital where you will work alongside top-flight practitioners in all areas.

You will challenge your skills, broaden your experience and grow your expertise in treatment options and the latest in technology across a wide range of clinical specialties, including but not limited to orthopaedics, neurosurgery, cardiothoracics, vascular, general, plastics, ENT, urology, gynaecology and endoscopy.

Epworth Hawthorn Acute is a boutique theatre complex including the surgical specialties of plastics, urology, orthopaedics and IVF.

Comprising all areas of the perioperative environment from admissions to overnight care, Hawthorn Acute provides multiple opportunities throughout the perioperative journey.


You will make an impact by:
Leading and engaging the clinical and non-clinical workforce to achieve agreed clinical services and outcomes

Facilitating the delivery and implementation of strategies to enhance the patient experience

Upholding the Epworth values to drive culture and allow for continuous improvement of clinical practice

Identifying and developing business opportunities

Having direct management of the Scrub/Scout Nurse Unit Managers, Theatre Technician Manager, CSSD Nurse Unit Manager and overseeing the Hawthorn Acute Nurse Unit Manager


To be successful in this role:

You will have previous leadership experience within the Perioperative environment and looking to take the next step in your career.

You will display excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to build trust and confidence required to lead and manage high performing teams.


You will be qualified in the following:
Registered Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Health Practitioners Agency (AHPRA)

Post graduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing - any subspecialty accepted

Relevant post graduate qualification in nursing/leadership and management/business, or working towards one

Experience in a senior nursing leadership role
