The Company:


People2people are very excited to be working with an international Supply Chain business that provide ocean and air freight forwarding, warehousing, distribution services and supply chain management.

With over 30 years of trusted experience, they are at the forefront of their industry.

This role is based in Horsely Park, 2175, Sydney; however can be a remote or hybrid working arrangement, post onboarding and training.


About the role:


The Customs Broker is responsible for the shipment of imported or exported goods ensuring that the items meet all the regulations, laws, packing, and other requirements that are mandated by law.


Duties included but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining the day-to-day customs clearance functions and processes in line with company performance expectations, standards and KPIs
  • Participation in regular internal audits and associated reporting
  • Reconciliation of job financial reports and monthend processes
  • Prepare customs documentation and ensure that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods
  • Determine duties and taxes payable and process payments on behalf of client
  • Attending to client enquiries relating to tariff classification of goods, rates of duty, tariff concession orders, methods of valuation and origin requirements of the Customs Act
  • Keep up to date with current customs and AQIS industry changes and trends
  • Liaising and supporting internal stakeholders to ensure quality customer experiences are maintained

Reporting, Business Processes & Compliance:

  • Collate, submit, review and present KPIs and other measures required by the business or customer and implement improvements
  • Monitor performance against targets/SLAs and take appropriate corrective action
  • Identify areas of continuous improvement in own area of responsibility, in line with Kaizen principles
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, and report any incidents or breaches of the Code

Workplace Health and Safety:

  • Participate in toolbox meetings, site inspections and safety audits
  • Comply with all relevant Workplace Health & Safety processes, policies, and obligations
  • Ensure proper and effective use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to minimise damage of company assets and maximise the safety of employees and visitors
  • Report on all accidents, incidents and near misses, and damage to property to relevant WH&S and management stakeholders

Essential Criteria:


  • Tertiary qualifications in International Freight Forwarding or Logistics is preferred, alternatively commensurate level of education, training, and commercial experience
  • Customs brokerage licence maintained and kept fort such a period while employed with the business, Quarantine certification and upkeep of training courses available to the industry
  • 5 years' experience as a licenced customs broker with an Australian Customers Broker licence and pervious customs brokerage experience
  • EDI/Cargowise and/or ICS experience
  • Must have knowledge of customs tariffs, import, export and taxation regulations
