About Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA)
VCEA is the peak body for Catholic education in Victoria. Established in 1973 by the Archbishop of Melbourne and the
Bishops of the Ballarat, Sale, and Sandhurst dioceses, it was incorporated in 2006 and acts as the voice of Catholic
education in State and national matters.
VCEA receives and distributes funding from state and federal governments for Catholic schools, provides strategic
leadership and planning, and ensures proper governance in Catholic education statewide. It is responsible for sector
leadership in education integrity and governance and has a Memorandum of Understanding to act as a Review Body for
Catholic schools with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). As a Review Body, VCEA supports,
reviews, and monitors the compliance of Catholic schools with all registration, reporting and other requirements under
relevant laws.

About the role
The Education and Integrity portfolio brings together both education compliance and education programs within a single
division. It is responsible for promoting and upholding educational integrity and compliance, strategic program delivery
and supporting the enrichment and development of the Victorian Catholic education system.
The Education Programs and Support team is responsible for the financial administration, management, and governance
of state-wide education, health and wellbeing programs, education grants and partnerships for Catholic schools.
The Lead, Education Strategy and Curriculum role oversees and contributes to project management of key education and
wellbeing initiatives, provides strategic advice on sector accountability, represents the interests of the Catholic sector
and supports the communication of government and sector policy priorities, and manages the allocation of targeted
funding.

Key responsibilities of the role

  • Represent the interests of Catholic education, Influence policy development and maintain strong relationships
with key external stakeholders such as Victorian diocesan representatives, government departments, agencies,
education authorities and sector representatives.

  • Establish and maintain clear communication and engagement processes with education stakeholders and
diocesan representatives to consult, obtain feedback, and prepare submissions and reports that reflect the
interests and perspectives of Catholic education.

  • Using highly developed project management skills and experience, to lead the delivery of VCEA projects and
initiatives across education, health and wellbeing, curriculum, and student wellbeing.

  • Represent Catholic education and provide strategic advice to internal stakeholders on government education
and policy initiatives, and project implementation including analysis of strategic benefits, risks and implications.

  • Manage funding agreements and associated reporting and compliance, monitor, control and report on target
programs, project progress and milestones, highlighting risks and opportunities for Catholic education.

Team. Identify and effectively communicate opportunities for improvement through the redesign of systems
and processes to optimise sector outcomes across early childhood, primary and secondary education

  • Liaise, consult, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as, VCAA, Department of Education,
National Catholic Education Commission, and lead consultation processes across Catholic education.

  • Undertake consultation with relevant stakeholders, review current programs, evaluate activities, identify gaps,
and make recommendations for revised or new programs and activities to ensure they continue to meet
identified needs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer commensurate with your knowledge, skills, and
experience.
