About the Role


The HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) Program Coordinator is responsible for the leadership, supervision and management of individual team members and the HIPPY Program, targeting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents/carers of children between the ages of 3 to 5 years old.

HIPPY aims to provide children with a structured education-focused early learning program at home aimed at improving children's preparedness for school; strengthening school participation; building confidence/skills of parents; supporting employment and leadership opportunities for HIPPY Tutors and Parents.

This position is being offered on a
permanent part-time (0.8 FTE) basis and is based in
Deception Bay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a quality HIPPY Program as set out by HIPPY Australia and implement program requirements requested by HIPPY Australia.
  • Coordinate program service delivery, associated reporting, data management and performance management of staff within the program/team.
  • Provide regular training to Home Tutors and observe and instruct them in the course of their work.
  • Interact with and support families who encounter problems with the HIPPY Program or are in need other support services.
  • Provide line management of staff that is supportive, organised and flexible.
  • Monitor program staffing needs and lead the recruitment of program staff.
  • Develop the annual program business plan, displaying clear direction of program development consistent with agency objectives.
  • Participation in the research and evaluation of the HIPPY Program.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in early childhood development, community development, Human Services or equivalent qualifications in a related discipline appropriate to the coordination of child, youth, family and community services.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering communitybased programs and working with children and families who are disadvantaged.
  • Extensive experience in working with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and building and promoting local networks and relationships with service providers.
