We're looking for a collaborative service and system design leader who can help lead our team as we design and implement a model for a universal year of early learning for every child in NSW, in the year before school.

We're placing families, educators and teachers, and the wider sector at the centre of a design approach and looking for experienced Service and System Design leader to join us.

About the Early Childhood Outcomes Division

The Early Childhood Outcomes Division leads the delivery of the Early Years Commitment program, including comprehensive investments in the critical first 5 years of life for every child - in child development and in early education and care, making investments that support families and the community now, as well as investing in long term reforms for the future.


The Opportunity


As the Manager, Design you'll be able to mentor and grow a team who are tackling complex service and system design work.

You'll lead programs in a collaborative and agile way to support the government's Universal Pre-Kindergarten commitment and ensure the needs of families, children and early childcare teachers and educators are at the heart of what we do.


To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Previous experience in leading teams to create service design outputs and use them to facilitate understanding and change within organisations
  • Previous people management experience, with a focus on developing design capabilities inside a team
  • Great communication skills you'll need to be able to engage with external and internal teams, the wider community, managers and executives of all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience using service design artefacts (including journey maps and service system blueprints) to communicate to a wide range of stakeholders

Essential requirements of the role

  • A valid Working with Children Check for paid employment.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
