Position Description:


The successful applicants will have the opportunity to work on inclusive communication products that enable policies and programs providing targeted supports and services for people with disability and carers.

This includes policy related to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Disability Employment Services (DES) and Australia's Disability Strategy


This is an opportunity to be part of activities that will shape whole of government approaches to improving the inclusion and participation of people with disability in Australia.


Auslan Interpreter

We are seeking NAATI accredited Auslan Interpreters to manage a range of interpreting activities, both in person and online across Australia that enable inclusive community and stakeholder engagements, workshops, and other forums.

You may be involved in a range of activities including the preparation for and facilitation of inclusive community engagement with people living with disability through translation support and contribution to program and service design to enable all people with disability to participate as equal members of the community.


Easy Read Writers/Designers

We are seeking writers / designers to support the translation of Department materials such as documents and production of information into Easy Read products, meet technical compliance standards, and manage publishing of materials (hard copy and online) to support inclusion and participation of people with disability in Australia.


Eligibility / Additional Requirements:

To be eligible for employment with Department of Social Services (the department), you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This will include an identity and criminal history background check.


Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance:

The suitable applicant must also obtain and maintain a security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).

Applicants also must be able to establish their background as checkable to be considered eligible for a security clearance.

Any gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee is deemed uncheckable, rendering the applicant ineligible for a security clearance.

Background history must cover 5 / 10 years (Baseline / Negative Vet 1 or Negative Vet 2) of employment, education, residential, criminal history and anything else specified by the AGSVA.

The suitable applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information to fulfil this process.
