The Bureau of Meteorology is completing a significant transformation program that will deliver a more customer focussed, relevant, and resilient national operation.

This is an exciting new direction for the Bureau which will revolutionise the way it delivers services to the Australian community.


The National Production Operations Leader is a pivotal role located in both Melbourne and Brisbane in the Bureau's Community Services Group (CSG).

The National Production Services (NPS) function delivers a 24/7 capability that integrates a team across Melbourne and Brisbane locations, as part of the Bureau's transformation to a more resilient national service delivery.

Six National Production Operations Leaders will focus on delivery of this 24/7 national offering, in pursuit of operational excellence.

The NPS function is responsible for the management, policy and coordination of the Bureau's national forecast and warning services. This includes leading enhanced service integration and delivery and the production of forecasts, warnings, and related products.
The National Production Operations Leader will report into the National Production Manager.

This role will lead a team of meteorologists in National Production to produce national forecasts, warnings and guidance, situational awareness and operational response products and services (this involving shift work aligned to the 24/7 mission).

In this role, you will help consolidate the Bureau's NPS capability.

You will provide leadership and direction to a large team working towards improving and enhancing a new national operations approach.
