About the Role


Provide psycho-social support services to young people between the ages of 17 and 22 who show signs and symptoms of mental illness while homeless or at risk of homelessness.

This is a
permanent part time position of
70 hours a fortnight within a community-based homeless youth service, Ngatti House, based in
Fremantle.

You will be required to work 7 x 10-hour
active nights shifts from
10pm to 8am across a fortnight.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support, helping to establish routine and structure.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining appropriate accommodation.
  • Coach and mentor consumers in daytoday life skills
  • Actively participate in recreational, educational, and culturally appropriate supports
  • Support consumers to develop their support plans in partnership key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with consumers and other supports to coordinate the delivery of services.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate case notes, up to date case plans and files.
  • Observe and record the client's behaviour, needs and interactions with others.

Skills & Experience

  • A Certificate IV in Mental Health
  • Previous experience working with people with mental health issues.
  • Ability to positively engage and work with people with complex needs.
  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Understanding of the Recovery Framework and the underlying principles
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Driver Licence


To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.

You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.
