About the role
We are looking for a Planning Enforcement Officer to join the Planning Enforcement team at Merri-bek.

You will be responsible for investigating planning complaints to ensure land use and development complies with the Merri-bek Planning Scheme, Planning Permits and Section 173 Agreements.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Merri-bek's Urban Planning, Environmental Health and Building Services units to achieve sustainable built form and land use outcomes for the Merri-bek community.


Skills and experience require to perform the role

  • A tertiary qualification in Planning or related field with relevant experience in an enforcement role, or lesser formal qualification with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate a range of planning enforcement matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to use informal dispute resolution processes and tools to achieve compliance as a first step before the use of formal enforcement proceedings.
  • An understanding of formal dispute resolution processes and tools including formal enforcement at the Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal and Magistrates' Court.
  • An understanding of planning or other relevant legislation
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication.
