About the role
We are looking for a Planning Enforcement Officer to join the Planning Enforcement team at Merri-bek.

You will be responsible for investigating planning complaints to ensure land use and development complies with the Merri-bek Planning Scheme, Planning Permits and Section 173 Agreements.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Merri-bek's Urban Planning, Environmental Health and Building Services units to achieve sustainable built form and land use outcomes for the Merri-bek community.

Skills and experience require to perform the role

A tertiary qualification in Planning or related field with relevant experience in an enforcement role, or lesser formal qualification with relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability to investigate a range of planning enforcement matters.
Demonstrated ability to use informal dispute resolution processes and tools to achieve compliance as a first step before the use of formal enforcement proceedings.
An understanding of formal dispute resolution processes and tools including formal enforcement at the Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal and Magistrates' Court.
An understanding of planning or other relevant legislation
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication.
