Mad Hatter Music is a piano school with locations in both Springwood and Birkdale, Qld. We teach solely group ensemble classes and our mission is to be a school designed with kids in mind.

The learning environment we have created at Mad Hatter Music School is designed to build confidence, self-esteem, and show children that their learning potential is limitless.

We may set the stage for them, but they are the true conductors for how far they take their passion, learnings, and talent.

Although our title may have the word school in it, it's our students at Mad Hatter that make it feel more like a family.

We are seeking an ethusiastic, self-motivated piano teacher to run group classes after school.

About you:

• An outgoing person who easily connects with kids and has a heart for childled education
• Confident musician. Able to improvise, compose and sight read to a reasonable level and enjoys creative music making approaches.
• Ideally had some experience teaching or managing kids in a group setting (ideal but not necessary)
• Mature, responsible approach to the way you manage your workload. Able to keep accurate lesson notes, plan in advance of classes and be punctual and organised with your teaching
• Selfdriven teacher who enjoys sourcing suitable music, transcribing songs, finding outofthe box ways to teach concepts and values flexibility in the way you engage with children
• Reliable owntransport
• Able to commit to a minimum of 6 months teaching with us
• Able to commit to your afternoon teaching roster, without the need for lastminute cancellations or regular time off for other commitments

About the position:

• Each afternoon is approximately 34hours work. You will ideally be able to commit to at least 2 afternoons of teaching
• Pay rate starts at $40 per hour (super inclusive), and increases with experience. As a casual employee with us, you will also be covered by our workcover insurance and all taxes are paid. Attendance at concerts, trainings and other events is also paid for. We value your time
• Currently no work on school holidays, but potential to change in the future
• You will be responsible for planning your classes including sourcing suitable music. Setting up and packing down your classroom each day. Greeting parents and students by name. Teaching the group classes in an engaging, interactive manner. Writing lesson notes at the end of each teaching afternoon (within 24hrs). Keeping mental track of student progress and preparing students to move into more advanced classes as need be.
• We want to support you in every way possible. We can supply materials, music, booklets and other items you need to teach your best lessons. We will provide ongoing training and support to help you confidently deliver awesome group classes.
