Following the announcement of Mr.

Phil Roberts retirement, after 31 years of exemplary service, 21 of those years as Principal, Mount Sinai College (MSC) is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and contemporary educator to the position of Principal, commencing in Term 3, 2023 (or by negotiation).

THE PRINCIPAL ROLE


Reporting to the Mount Sinai Board of Management, the Principal need not be Jewish, however they will have an extensive, varied experience in education and strong knowledge of best practice and research.

They will develop and lead the School's Leadership Team, cultivating and strengthening a positive teaching, learning and working environment for all staff and students at every level of operations.

In delivering the Strategic Intentions of the Board of Management, the Principal will provide professional leadership and direction.

This will be achieved through modelling the highest standards of ethical leadership and engaging staff and students in purposeful teaching and learning whilst reflecting a research-driven philosophy of education.


The Principal will have a proven track record of educational leadership, including delivering measurable outcomes to further a clear vision and strategy.

They will enable a healthy, invigorating and enjoyable daily life at school for each student.

In addition, the newly appointed Principal will further develop and managing the College's '6 Kinds of Best' approach to being and discipline of the school.


With extensive knowledge and experience in education, the incumbent will have the complementary business acumen required to successfully run a multifaceted organisation.

The Principal will also ensure high levels of governance and legal compliance, be community focused and continue to celebrate excellence in all facets of the school.

They will be responsible for the proper, efficient, economic and equitable management of the School to maximise the progress and achievement of all students.


The Principal will possess high levels of intellectual capacity and emotional intelligence, combined with a calm perspective and measured approach.

  • Contemporary knowledge of curriculum, educational and pastoral trends, schooling practices and policy developments.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to academic excellence and a wide variety of cultural, sporting, or creative leisure activities.
  • An energetic approach to life and achievement, and, most importantly, personal qualities of integrity and a high ethical standard.
  • With closely with staff to build a team that works powerfully and collaboratively across secular and Jewish Studies.
  • Wholeheartedly celebrates success, whether for the highest academic results or the progress of the most challenged student.
  • Uptodate knowledge of relevant compliance requirements and regulations.
