The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government.


The ASD requires the services of a Cyber Incident Records Management Officer to achieve complex information and records management work within an integrated workforce.


The Cyber Incidents Records Management Officer will be responsible for organising their workflow, and may be required to proactively engage with stakeholders as part of the data quality review process and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility.

They will also be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.


Indicative duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Engage with cyber-related legislative and policy developments across government, and maintain compliance with relevant legislative frameworks, cyber incident concepts, and ASD's cyber security mission and policy requirements.
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of historic incident data to deliver medium
- and long-term data validation objectives, by reviewing the quality of work undertaken by others, performing clerical support work, and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within the team.

  • Coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent with a work plan and provide advice on practical methods of task completion that align with other team members.
  • Enrich and maintain ACSC incident data holdings, to support trends analysis and ACSC reporting requirements.

Key knowledge, skills or experience areas include:

  • Experience with evaluation, data entry, data analysis and data validation.
  • Experience using Structured Query Language (SQL), as well as working with databases and Atlassian platforms like Confluence or JIRA
  • Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate with others through clear and proactive communication.
  • Training or experience with cyber security analysis or incident response is an advantage.
