Temporary full-time opportunity until June 2024, located in across NSW ( Hybrid working model):


  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $101,947 to $112,849 plus super and leave loading


The AHO is a statutory authority, established under the Aboriginal Housing Act 1998 (NSW) and plans, administers and expands the policies, program and asset base for Aboriginal housing in NSW.

This includes resource allocation, sector-wide policy, strategic planning, and monitoring outcomes and performance in the Aboriginal community housing sector. To achieve this AHO receives funding from both the NSW and the Australian Governments.


About the role

The team at AHO are currently seeking a
Project Officer to join their Client Outcomes team in delivering policy and evidence work.

The role will coordinate and undertake research and policy development and provide evidence-based project development and advice to develop high quality projects, which drives reform and directly contributes to better outcomes for Aboriginal people including individuals, families, groups and communities.


About you
You are a project management professional with experience working closely with the Aboriginal community.
You are a team player that understands the significance of successful team collaboration within this environment.

A willingness to travel and to be available to travel at short notice at times, is required.


The role will focus significantly on the development of new and well rounded policy responses towards Housing and Homelessness issues, taking into account research and analysis from external and internal sources, the diverse interests of stakeholders and considerations of a whole of government approach.

Therefore experience in working with Aboriginal communities is essential.


Key accountabilities include:


  • Undertake aspects of project reform or reviews to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of service delivery and inform policy development.
  • Research and prepare advice in the form of briefs, policy and discussion papers to contribute to responses to Ministerial, Cabinet, AHO or DPIE requests.
  • Deliver on assigned projects and processes within agreed upon deadlines and quality standards.
  • Liaise and work across AHO and DPIE Divisions and nongovernment stakeholders to ensure effective interface between program development, planning, service design and policy implementation.
