Position Information:


Narrabeen Sports High School is a dynamic and inclusive, 7-12 comprehensive, coeducational high school, located 40 minutes from the Sydney CBD (975 students, including 12 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students).

Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Approval and demonstrated successful experience in teaching History or Geography, and one of: Business Studies, Society and Culture, Legal Studies.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and lead staff at all career stages to ensure high expectations for students and staff in a cohesive and effective HSIE teaching team.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead curriculum development across the broad range of HSIE courses to ensure quality differentiated teaching and learning programs that support individual student growth and achievement.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to work collegially with executive and KLA teams to identify, develop and lead initiatives to support whole school priorities and initiatives.

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
