• We are seeking a Professor of Practice - STEM Education
  
• Located in Camperdown

  The Sydney School of Education and Social Work manages successful funded partnerships with local schools and communities, state and federal government departments, through to international scholarly collaborations on global standards of education and social policy.
  
  

  Some of our recent research partners include: NSW Department of Education and Communities, Telstra, SAX Institute, Department of Industry and Science, Office for Learning and Teaching and the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council.
  
  

  A Professor of Practice is an esteemed leader in their profession with an international reputation for outstanding impact, achievement and influence. A Professor of Practice brings their extensive professional experience to the University and actively contributes to the furthering of the profession through their engagement with collaborators, students and the broader community.
  
  

  A Professor of Practice contributes to the leadership and strategic direction of the University by participating in collegial governance and decision-making and fosters a culture of excellence through guiding academic staff and students towards success. A Professor of Practice maintains their reputation by actively contributing to innovation in the profession, scholarship relating to the profession, academic debate and policy development within the University and beyond.
  
  

  About you (skills, capabilities and experience)

  • Professional qualifications appropriate to the discipline of STEM education and significant experience as a leader within the profession
    
  • An international reputation as a leading authority in the profession
    
  • Demonstrated success in integrating and applying complex theoretical concepts to advance professional practice
    
  • A wide network of established relationships with key industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the discipline, School/ Faculty and University
    
  • Significant experience in people leadership and management, including demonstrated excellence in supervising and/or mentoring others to success
    
  • An understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector related to initial teacher education and STEM education.
    
    Term and remuneration
    
    

    This position is 3 years fixed term position offering 0.2 FTE (1 day per week). The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
