About us:

The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (the Institute) is dedicated to finding cures for cardiovascular disease and is one of the most respected heart research facilities in the world.

Renowned for the quality of its breakthroughs, the Institute was established in 1994 and has grown to a team of over 200 researchers from around the globe, working across five divisions.

A global centre-of-excellence, it integrates Cardiac Physiology and Transplantation, Developmental and Stem Cell Biology, Molecular Cardiology and Biophysics, Structural and Computational Biology, as well as Vascular Biology.

At the Institute, we translate our discoveries into new diagnostics, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular disease - reducing the incidence, severity and impact of heart disease.

The role:

Professor Robert M.

Graham, Molecular Cardiology and Biophysics Lab, is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant with expertise in cell and molecular biology, and animal models of heart disease.

In this role you will join an enthusiastic team investigating cardiac regeneration after injury.

You will be involved in day-to-day studies that require animal microsurgical skills, heart perfusion by Langendorff to isolate cardiac cells as well as imaging by confocal microscopy after immunostaining of tissue and cell samples.

You will also assist in the preparation of DNA from cells for genome studies.

About you:

Are you an accomplished scientist with a talent for hands-on experimental work and data analysis? Are you looking to advance your career in academic research and prefer the lab bench to the office desk? Do you have a passion for science and want to work on the most exciting and cutting-edge cardiovascular research in Australia?
