About the Role
Santos is hiring an Operations Readiness Lead for our Barossa Project.

This position will be based in our Perth Operations and will be a pivotal role to ensure the successful development, implementation and production of Santos Operations Readiness practices and strategies to achieve a Disciplined Operating Mode that is safe and reliable throughout the lifecycle of the asset.


Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values and Santos Management System (SMS).

Key responsibilities of the role include:


  • Define the Operations Readiness (OR) scope and list of deliverables for the Barossa project.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in the delivery of the Barossa Project (FPSO, SPS, SURF, GEP, D&C and Subsurface) to ensure currency with Operations Excellence (OE) strategies and practices.
  • Oversee the FPSO Contractor in the in the development of operations readiness deliverables which include the SMS gap analysis in the development of the integrated Barossa Management System
  • Facilitate the delivery of an integrated resource loaded Operations Readiness Plan
  • Provide governance and reporting to ensure deliverables are completed at the required OR gate assurance reviews
  • Responsible for ensuring any findings from OR Reviews are being adequately managed by the project including escalation if and when required
  • Ensure all necessary systems, processes, personnel, and documentation are in place prior to project start up
  • Representative for the Barossa Project on the Operations Readiness Community of Practice
  • Support the improvements to project handover commissioning and startup
  • Actively support cost and schedule management in line with Santos and project requirements
  • Provide HSE leadership to support successful project outcomes.

About you

  • Engineering Degree qualifications with the ability to obtain an Australian recognized Chartered Practicing Engineering certification. and/or with eligibility to obtain one.
  • History of experience with hydrocarbon/energy projects and/or operations within an FPSO & subsea environment is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading FPSO operations and/or gas production facilities.
  • Experience in leading, collaborating and building strong relationships across the business including external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience of working in Australia and knowledge of the offshore regulatory regime is required.
  • Ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve successful outcomes.
