How will I help?

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Director with solid credit analysis skills to join Westpac's Institutional Bank (WIB) in the Consumer & Industrials Analyst team in Melbourne.


This team is responsible for high quality origination and delivery of best-in-class customer and industry insights to differentiate our sales proposition and enhance our conversations with valued clients.


The primary responsibility of this credit analyst role is to efficiently manage a portfolio of Corporate & Institutional sized clients across numerous sectors, provide robust analysis and deliver sound & sustainable credit recommendations, including the origination process for new transactions and the ongoing support and monitoring of the customer portfolio as the primary credit analyst.


You'll collaborate with your analyst peers, product experts, and Relationship Managers to help initiate and structure a range of banking transactions, whilst being sensitive to the customer's needs.

This includes providing value added research that can be used by both our customers and internal stakeholders.


You will also:

  • Build relationships and establish rapport with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Discussing business plans, financials, and credit challenges with clients.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the credit process, including the required due diligence, are properly executed.
  • Write credit submissions including detailed risk analysis and financial forecasting, and be able to present and negotiate submissions through WIB's risk management decision process.
  • Test proposals against approved business and credit strategies, target market acceptance criteria and underwriting standards
  • Prepare industry analysis and insights reports for both internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Assisting in reviewing credit policies of the bank aimed at ensuring that policies reflect the latest industry and market trends and lead to efficient credit risk management.

What do I need?

  • Demonstrated experience in Corporate or Institutional banking or banking/financial services with experience in credit writing, credit analysis and assessment.
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of Multinational, Institutional sized clients and the various aspects of Institutional Banking that go with this across Financial Markets, Syndications and multibank relationships will be viewed favourably.
  • Knowledge of Westpac's systems and credit appetite will be advantageous. You will demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while building relationships with a variety of stakeholders and external clients.

Some further advantageous skills:

  • Advanced Microsoft excel and financial modelling skills will be viewed favourably.
  • Knowledge of how to build customer relationships and experience managing customers would be beneficial. Strong communication and influencing skills required to manage significant relationships with stakeholders.
