About the Role
The role is responsible for educating and promoting to the community and staff sustainable waste management and resource recovery.


This role is also responsible for developing and implementing an Educational Program as identified in the Sustainable Waste Management Strategy and Action Plans.

This role may involve working/hot-desking at multiple Council locations across Bayside.


You can also expect to:

  • Develop and implement community education programs under the guidance of the Coordinator and/or Manager Environment & Resilience on waste and resource recovery.
  • Develop and implement waste and resource recovery education programs for internal staff under the guidance of the Coordinator and/or Manager Environment and Resilience.
  • Assist with the design, production and distribution of educational and promotional material that supports goals set in Council's Sustainable Waste Management Strategy and that protects the environment.
  • Collaborate with Council's Waste & Cleansing Services and other relevant business units to minimise contamination, incidences of illegal dumping, and littering.
  • Coordinate and manage contractors to conduct community education and engagement.
  • Assist with waste research, analytics, audits and reporting as well as waste related activities at Events within Council Events Calendar (including some events outside of normal working hours).
  • Contribute to the development of the Sustainable Waste Management Strategy and Plan.
  • Prepare correspondence to inform residents and property owners of actions taken, whilst keeping in mind Council's reputation and image to maintain a high standard of respect from the community.
  • Work in collaboration with and assist the team, manager, coordinator, and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
  • Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications, Diploma and/or equivalent experience in environmental management, environmental science, sustainability or related discipline with proven experience in delivery across similar areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in community education and engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with people behaviour and change management. Current C Class Vehicle Driver's Licence coupled with the ability to drive an education van.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Willingness to work adhoc weekend work.

Salary range:
$75,758 to $84,850 per annum plus 10.5% superannuation
