Working as an SME Underwriter, you will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business, regularly interacting and facing the market, under limited supervision, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on assignments of moderate technical complexity ensuring a high level service to customers.


Reporting to the SME Underwriting Manager, you will be part of a team that has an understanding of managing the needs of brokers in relation to expected service levels, including driving a solution focused underwriting culture whilst ensuring a consistent adherence to Zurich's Underwriting guidelines and procedures across all teams, providing market feedback and competitor analysis solutions to improve Zurich's market offering.

In order to be successful for the role, you will require the following:

  • ANZIIF Associate Insurance qualifications
  • Experience in SME Packages (preferable)
  • Insurance knowledge of Underwriting Packages business, relevant legislation and regulations governing General Insurance
  • Knowledge of quoting systems
  • Strong understanding of / and proven relationships across all broker networks
  • Strong business acumen / commercial mindset
  • Deal management experience and sales closure skills
  • Ability to communicate and influence a broad set of stakeholders across various levels
