Postdoctoral Fellow - Molecular Biology

A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated and creative scientist to join Scott Berry's laboratory, as part of the RNA Institute and the EMBL Australia Node in Single Molecule Science at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.

Recently established in 2021, UNSW's RNA Institute is a cross-faculty initiative that aims to create a world class science, therapeutics, and translational facility for improving health and the quality of life through innovations in RNA science, engineering, and medicine.

The Berry Lab joined the RNA Institute in 2023 as part of the Institute's fundamental science focus. The lab studies fundamental aspects of transcriptional regulation in mammalian cells.

In particular, the mechanisms used by cells to regulate gene-specific and global RNA abundance - ranging from epigenetic memory and cellular decision-making to kinetics of global RNA metabolism in the context of cellular physiology.

Techniques used in the lab are focused on cellular imaging and quantitative analysis of image-based data at the single-cell level, as well as functional genomics and next-generation sequencing.
