We are currently looking for a Procurement Contracts Officer on a permanent full-time basis who has an excellent work ethic to join our Procurement Contracts team, to assist with contract and procurement activities for various goods and services within the business.

Reporting to the Senior Procurement Officer the successful applicant will assist the team by preparing and negotiating contracts, undertaking tender development and management, assisting with tender evaluation processes, supplier information management and supporting the development and improvement of procurement practices across the business.


The Role
As the Procurement Contracts Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Providing contract administration services and support to the business's staff and teams that are undertaking procurement.
  • Undertaking and managing tendering processes including the development of request for tender documentation, evaluation, negotiation, drafting and finalisation of contracts in conjunction with the relevant manager(s).
  • Preparing and negotiating contractor/supplier agreements, including extensions and variations.
  • Assisting with preparing/reviewing scopes of works.
  • Managing procurement contracts including supplier liaison, review and adjustment of pricing, variations and contract management actions.
  • Effective procurement administration including management of risk and ongoing supplier performance.
  • Assisting with the prequalification of suppliers and supplier information management.
  • Interpreting and explaining contract requirements and terms and conditions to stakeholders to inform decisionmaking and support compliance requirements.
  • Supporting the development and improvement of procurement policies and procedures.
  • Seeking ways to improve efficiencies and ensure compliance of purchasing and procurement processes.

About You
To be successful in this role we need you to have

  • Sound understanding of Australian contract law principles;
  • Ability to decipher and negotiate contract clauses;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to establish positive and effective working relationships with people at all levels;
  • Ability to identify ways to improve procurement systems or processes which are used by the team and work collaboratively with other teams to resolve issues and develop better solutions;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a motivated and enthusiastic attitude to problem solving;
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning;
  • An interest in using data analysis to support the business in making informed decisions;
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and seek guidance intelligently;
  • Previous direct contracts experience in a procurement, contracting or legal environment;
  • Degree or qualifications in law, commerce or procurement preferable but not essential.
