About the role


As a production assistant your primary role will be to assist the manufacturing supervisor and production team in the manufacturing processes as well as preparing components for welding processes.

Each job must be done with safety, accuracy, quality and timeliness.

  • Ensuring machinery is set up as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and used in a safe manner.
  • Preparing parts for fabrication or assembly as per drawing requirements.
  • Saw cutting batches of aluminum and stainless steel.
  • Drilling materials using hand drills and drill presses and working on milling machine.
  • Preparing materials perform assembly and dismantling operations.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan the process.
  • Product assembly as per drawings.
  • Carry out machining (turning/milling) as per drawing and specifications, when needed.
  • Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing PPE.
  • Monitor equipment for usage and request maintenance when required.
  • Perform simple maintenance and repair as required.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow team members and management.
  • Attends training and development meetings to develop skills and safety awareness

The desired criteria is as per following:

  • Previous experience within a mechanical and/or engineering workshop environment.
  • Able to start at 5am and finish at 3pm daily.
  • Work autonomously or in a team and have confidence with machinery and hand tools.
  • Able to Interpret technical drawings and have the demonstrated ability to operate basic workshop machinery such as Drill Presses, Band Saws, Drop Saws, Grinders, Linishers and hand tools to prepare materials and assemble finished components.
  • The ability to use precision measuring instruments such as callipers, micrometres, protractors, and tape measures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with company standards WHS / EMS and regulatory requirements.
  • Interacts harmoniously with fellow employees, subcontractors and visitors.
  • Adherence to the company policies and procedures.
