Are you interested in becoming a part of a tightly knit, high performing team that represents Victoria's interests concerning water operations and sharing within the Murray River and its interconnected systems?


This role offers a rare opportunity to become an expert in understanding how the waters of the Murray-Darling Basin are allocated among states and delivered to achieve diverse outcomes.

In this role, you will engage directly with irrigators, rural water corporations, Traditional Owners, local communities, waterway managers, scientists, and environmental water holders as well as the Murray Darling Basin Authority and other basin states.

This can set you up to really understand the heart of the big issues and reforms of our times in the Basin.


This Policy Officer will work on managing delivery risks and ensuring Victoria is ready to respond to water delivery shortfalls when they eventuate.

The role will also provide input into the development of solutions to challenges in operating regulated rivers while managing the impacts to rights and values to our river systems.


We're looking for a self-motivated team player and effective communicator who thrives on collaboration with stakeholders and knows how to coordinate a complex project with multiple components.


Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification, or relevant experience, in natural Resource Management is desirable.
  • Experience identifying and working with stakeholders in regional and rural communities impacted by decisions. is highly desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2024. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
