Job Description:


As a member of the laboratory team based in Pert Airport, you will assist the Operations Manager in maintaining SGS's analysis capability.


Responsiblities:

  • Undertake routine preparation and analysis of potable, fresh, estuarine and sea water for algal counts, species identification and biovolume calculation.
  • Analyse samples within their holding time and provide results by the due date.
  • Ensure equipment and laboratory is kept clean and maintained to avoid contamination and protect the company's assets.
  • Assist with data validation for technical reports
  • Carry out scheduled calibration and maintenance of instruments in accordance with the written procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to laboratory QA/QC criteria and NATA accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure that safety equipment and PPE is used correctly as required.
  • Report immediately on any unsafe work condition or equipment to the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager/Microbiological & Hygiene Supervisor.

Qualifications:


  • Graduate degree in science, with a background in phycology, marine & freshwater aquatic ecology.
  • At least 3 years of industry experience.
  • Experience in laboratory environment preferred.
  • Experience with microscopes is required
