Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.


Forensicare is situated across five sites across Victoria with its largest site being Thomas Embling Hospital,?located in Fairfield?just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre.?Thomas Embling Hospital is a 136-bed secure hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation and continuing care programs.

It includes a dedicated women's unit.


About the Role:


  • The Speech Pathology Clinical Educator is an integral support to the Speech Pathology team at Forensicare, and will be a key role in the supervision, support and coordination for our graduate speech pathologists
  • The Clinical Educator will work with Educators from all other disciplines to strengthen and promote interdisciplinary learning and development approaches, with a focus on translation to practice
  • This role will also support the advocacy and advancement of evidence based practice for Speech Pathologists working in forensic mental health settings.

Duties:


  • Provide learning, reflection and coaching support to Speech Pathology graduates and other Allied Health graduates as part of the Allied Health & Psychology graduate/registrar program
  • Work with the Senior Speech Pathologist to design, develop and implement a practice process model for Speech Pathology clinicians working in forensic mental health
  • Design, develop and facilitate discipline specific learning and development modules, frameworks and packages.
  • Work alongside clinicians to provide direct modelling, support, feedback and opportunities for on the job training to enhance clinical service delivery

About You:


  • Experience in providing clinical supervision to graduates in both individual and group reflective settings
  • Familiarity with the communication, language and swallowing needs of people receiving care in secure settings
  • Passionate about the role of Speech Pathology in mental health and justice populations and able to share this knowledge via educational approaches
  • Experience with developing systems of care and evaluating same whilst working to deadlines.

What you need:


  • Approved degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Additional qualifications in clinical education or training/assessment would be desirable but not essential.

COVID19 & Influenza Vaccination Evidence


Under the Victorian Public Health orders, all employees working within the Public Health system must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza and are required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status.

The current orders require evidence of three doses for COVID-19.
