Venue Manager

  • Permanent full-time, 38 hours per week
  • Salary from $1, $2,224.70 per week + 10.5% Super + Oncall allowance

We are seeking a highly skilled and vibrant leader with extensive experience in managing large/regional aquatic and parkland based venue's, large scale community events and a demonstrated ability to effectively lead, motivate and coordinate a multi-discipline team to deliver high quality outcomes, fostering a positive team environment.

As part of the Leisure Services portfolio the Billabong Parklands is a regional facility like no other, drawing inspiration from the natural environment of the nearby Dharawal National Park, reflecting the Georges River system.

The facility consists of a range of recreational experiences including zero depth water play features and streams, two swimming lagoons, shaded huts, picnic spaces, BBQ's, walking paths and landscaped parklands.


About the role:


In this position, you will be responsible for the supervision and management of the operations of Billabong Parklands venue, ensuring the success of its purpose and services, thereby supporting the Council's vision for the current and long-term needs of the community.


As a Venue Manager you will:

  • Be responsible and accountable for the management and operation of the venue.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team in the day to day operations of the Billabong Parklands to ensure the services and programs provided are aligned to the needs and priorities of the community
  • Responsible for ensuring that the venue is 'customer ready'.
  • Have demonstrate leadership skills that inspires and motivates the team to perform to their best at all times, and create a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop innovative solutions to delivering the required strategic outcomes of the Billabong Parklands operations and events.
  • Foster a culture of creativity problem solving and innovation within the venues.
  • Ensure all Work, Health and Safety and risk management requirements are met including reporting and investigation of all venue incidents and hazards, thereby ensuring a safe customer and work environment.
  • Monitor the quality of outcomes, implement continuous improvement and cost saving measures without compromising service levels.
  • Experience in venue and event management with a focus on areas of mass gatherings. Experience in large/regional aquatic and parkland based venues would be highly desirable
  • RLSSA Aquatic Technical Operator certification or equivalent
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice related to the Billabong Parklands venue.
  • Considerable experience in aboriginal cultural awareness.
  • Ability to effectively lead, motivate and coordinate a multidiscipline team to deliver high quality outcomes, fostering a positive team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing excellent customer service, highly developed understanding of customer service principles and ability to listen to stakeholders and communicate relevant information in a timely fashion and appropriate format.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues, and emerging trends in a timely fashion and to develop systems and procedures to assist in the development of an organisation wide approach to business solutions.
  • High level interpersonal skills and the ability to deal appropriately with upper management, Councillors and community members.
  • Extensive experience in the development, implementation and realisation of community services strategic and business plans.
  • Working with Children Check
  • Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation SIS40115 or equivalent.
  • Current Pool Lifeguard Certification (licence essential after 1 month of service).
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
