Position Objective
The Centre Manager / Nominated Supervisor is accountable to Ruby and Ollies for the overall operation, management, and administration of the Beenleigh & Coomera Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services, ensuring that:

  • Pedagogical leadership is provided to ensure quality care and education programs for children, and direction, support and continuous learning for staff
  • A vibrant, interesting, varied and appropriate children's program is developed and implemented to meet the ongoing needs of the children
  • The philosophy, policies and procedures of the service are upheld, implemented and reviewed regularly to meet relevant requirements
  • The service meets the National Quality Standard
  • The service implements the My Time, Our Place Framework All relevant legal and statutory requirements are monitored, complied with and implemented
  • The staff and families of the child care centre are encouraged to contribute to the quality and success of the service

Position Criteria
Minimum Qualification

  • Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Children's Services or relevant Degree or Early Childhood Education qualification
Special Conditions

  • Current Childcare Specific Senior First Aid qualification, including CPR and asthma & anaphylaxis management
  • Current Working with Children's Blue Card or Exemption Card
  • Successful completion of relevant responding to child protection training
  • Successful completion of Understanding Epilepsy and Administration of Emergency Medication training
  • Current Driver's License
  • Attendance at out of hours meetings, training and Service functions
  • The employee will receive training and development relevant to their role
Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Highly developed pedagogical leadership skills
  • Highly developed program and curriculum planning and evaluation skills, with a sound knowledge of the My Time Our Place Framework
  • Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective administration, business, marketing, reporting and financial management skills
  • Effective operational, supervisory and human resource management skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Good keyboard, computer and software package skills
  • Ability to interact with children in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner
  • Ability to assist families in a sensitive supportive and professional manner
  • Ability to develop and implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to perform calmly in an emergency or stressful situation
  • High knowledge of relevant state and federal government legal compliance requirements relating to child care
  • High knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Early Childhood Services National Law & regulations, and the National Quality Standard
  • Good knowledge of adult learning principles including change management
    Good knowledge of the responsibilities of the employer and employee under the Occupational Health & Safety Legislation:

  • Work collaboratively with the General Manager/ Central Office in achieving operational performance against key objectives.
Pedagogical Leadership

  • Coordinate, supervise, direct and evaluate the activities of employees engaged in the centre
  • Oversee and lead staff to implement a care and education program based upon the My Time Our Place Framework
  • Demonstrate and share knowledge of child development and effective approaches to facilitating children's care and education programs
  • Plan for and facilitate the inclusion of children with additional needs, including children with disabilities, children with complex health support needs, Aboriginal children and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Attainment of meeting the NQS and continuity of quality across the service
  • Lead discussion on reflective practice and continuous improvement
  • Lead and share information, knowledge and expertise on practice, policy developments and community changes that may impact on the program
  • Be a professional role model for high quality education and care for young children
  • Build the capacity of all staff by support and mentoring others to take on leadership roles in areas of expertise or of potential interest
