Job Description:


The Maintenance Watch / AOG - Team Members are responsible to the Maintenance Operations and Facilities Manager (MOFM) for the provision of overall coordination and technical liaison for Line Maintenance activities inclusive of afterhours logistics support.


Key Duties and Responsibilites

  • Support and comply with the requirements of the Airborne Safety Management System (SMS) relevant to the position.
  • Maximise the availability of serviceable aircraft by coordinating the timely rectification of defects.
  • View current deferred defects on a daily basis, to ensure that corrective action is planned and completed, including MEL/PUS closures.
  • Provide support to maintenance organisation Line Engineers in the event of difficult or ongoing aircraft defects that may require indepth analysis, liaison with other sections, or liaison with the manufacturer.
  • Actively participate in coordinating the return to service of delayed aircraft.
  • Authorise maintenance related ferry flights outside of normal working hours, following consultation with Operations and/or respective Commercial. Managers (where necessary).
  • Monitor and manage the supply chain for afterhours AOG and operational critical defect requisitions to meet the operational schedule.
  • Ensure procurement activities are carried out in line with the SAPL-LPM.
  • Advise Operations of those maintenance requirements which influence the aircraft scheduling function.
  • Maintain a Handover Log, in which is recorded all events that are considered pertinent to continuity of the cell's operation.
  • Foster and maintain a close working relationship with Flight Operations so that flight crew use the Maintenance Watch
  • Team Members as a direct point of contact for advice on technical matters.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the MOFM.

The position reports directly to the:

  • Maintenance Operations and Facilities Manager (MOFM)

Qualifications:


Educational/Vocational Qualifications (essential and desirable)

  • Tertiary Technical qualifications in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
  • LAME or AME qualifications highly desirable.

Experience (essential and Desirable)

  • Experience in an Aircraft Maintenance environment essential.
  • Experience in aircraft operations desirable.

Knowledge (essential and desirable)

  • Good knowledge of the aviation maintenance and operations environment essential.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of CASA regulations.

Personal Skills/Abilities (essential and desirable)

  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure essential.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal essential.
  • Ability to work across sections with good project management and planning skills.
