What's the role?


Reporting to the General Manager of Digital Publishing Technology, you will own the end-to-end delivery and operation of News Corp Australia's CDN (Content Delivery Network) platform (Akamai) that ensures secure, high performance delivery of content across almost 100 sites viewed by around 16 million customers and users monthly.


You will be the focal point for the management of the Akamai platform by working closely with our digital product teams, internal IT platform teams, delivery management and of course third party vendors ensuring that the business can evolve to support the organisation's current and future business strategies.

You will lead a specialist team alongside our vendors to ensure the ongoing evolution, stability and commercial optimisation.

  • Work closely with stakeholders, including our Product teams and vendors to collect, prioritise and deliver on business initiatives
  • Manage the Akamai vendor relationship for News Corp Australia in collaboration with Global teams, ensuring mutual outcomes from the partnership
  • Own the commercial & budget management for Akamai platform
  • Develop a strategically aligned roadmap across both project and BAU, and deliver on those agreed roadmaps
  • Lead a small specialist team of developers / configuration and support experts (potential matrix)
  • Establish a continuous cycle of platform improvements that enhance reliability and operation
  • Oversee incident & problem management, executed by service management teams

Who are you?

  • Experience in a similar role, with the appropriate technical background
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant discipline
  • Project and change management experience in software development required
  • Experience or interest in delivering in Agile environments
  • Stakeholder and vendor communication & management
  • Experience in delivery management, process engineering and IT service management
  • Developer and configuration management
  • Understanding of the SDLC using Agile processes and methodologies
  • Experience with Akamai
  • Experience with javascript (desirable)
  • Experience with automation and CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery) (desirable)
