Administration Support Officer - Ongoing Full Time

The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives.

It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.

About the Division

The Schools & Regional Services is responsible for implementing government learning and development strategies through networks of government schools and early childhood providers.


Multi-disciplinary teams work collaboratively across the Area to:
- deliver high quality education and early childhood services that are responsive to local needs.
- improve early childhood service and school outcome and performances across the Area

This role will be located in the Central Highlands Area and based in the Ballarat Regional Office.
About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in facilitating the achievement of the Department of Education's priorities, aims, and objectives through the provision of support services to local Regional staff, wider departmental stakeholders, external community stakeholders and the general public.

The role reports to the Manager, Planning and Implementation, is paramount in maintaining the Department's existing and developing relationships and is one of the key supporting resources in local regional offices.

The role of Administration Support Officer is to be first and foremost a welcoming presence for all visitors, internal and external, ensuring that the processing of all information received daily is completed timely and accurately in accordance with the current Department policies and procedures.

In addition, the role also requires a motivated, well-organised incumbent who can prioritise their workload based on demand, escalate in a timely professional manner if and as required and have the ability to recognise when assistance needs to be sought.

It is recognised that the role is critical to the effective operations of the Department and by their very nature, these roles involve periods of sustained independent work, as well as frequent and varied contact with all members of the Department and community.

The role demands flexibility and the ability to work in a highly collaborative and supportive way with all other members of the Administration team, performing many and varied tasks which will involve discretion, confidentiality and initiative.
