Nursing Team, Nursing Management, Medical Practitioners, Medical Administrative Staff, CSSD Technicians, and Clinical Services

Your role:

The Assistant in Nursing will support the running of the clinic under the supervision of Registered Nurses/ Registered Midwives.

They will support in differing areas of the clinic whilst accountable for performing only those nursing duties that have been delegated by a Registered Nurse and for which they have had education or experience.

You will fulfil the accountabilities of this role in accordance with MSI's core values, as outlined below, and in accordance with your scope of practice as the Assistant in Nursing.


Your purpose:


  • Provide best practice care which is supported by internal operating procedures while aiding in maximising profit and streamlining processes,
  • Accountable for ensuring that you collaborate and consult with clients, their support persons and families as well as your healthcare colleagues to plan, implement and evaluate integrated care that optimises outcomes for recipients and the systems of care.

Key responsibilities:

General Duties

  • Plan and prioritise activities for the shift in liaison with the Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Assist with patient hygiene and nutrition care, including activities of daily living care and other tasks provided for clients under the direction of the Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Clean equipment and the patient environment as required to support patient care standards and infection control.
  • Effectively communicate and contribute to the nursing and multidisciplinary team within the limitations of the role.
  • Respond to emergency clinical situations under direction.
  • Where appropriate, escort clients through the clinic to be changed, dependent upon the Registered Nurse's assessment of the client's condition.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels and equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in Team meetings as well as learning opportunities, and share relevant information from meetings with the team.
  • Adhere to relevant standards and follow procedures correctly and within the limitations of the role to maintain a safe and clientcarefocused working environment

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Certificate lll in healthrelated studies or enrolled in a Registered Nurse/Midwifery program with completion of year 1 is highly desirable.
  • Strong personcentred approach

  • Knowledge of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) and Accreditation requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
