The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The Team


The Indigo Program Office sits within the Organisational Transformation Group (OTG) of the AEC and within the Enterprise Strategy and Modernisation branch.

The Branch has a diverse range of skill sets and is focused on delivering a modernisation agenda that will see the AEC transition away from monolithic legacy systems onto contemporary platforms is responsible for developing innovative and achievable transformation options for consideration by the Executive Leadership Team.


The Indigo Program is a broad program of work within the AEC, translating business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change and transformation, with a specific emphasis on the modernisation of business capabilities supported by legacy ICT systems.

The Program will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of ICT solutions through the replacement of legacy components and the reduction of technical duplication, complexity, and inefficiency.


Situated within the Indigo Program is the Indigo Program Office which provides high level support to the Indigo Executive, the Indigo Leadership Team, and the Indigo Program as a whole.

The Indigo Program Office tracks and maintains program management standards and establishes procedures and best practices to support effective program operations.

The Office also houses the Indigo Vendor Management Office (VMO) which is responsible for the management of contracts related to the Indigo Program.


The Opportunity


The Indigo Program Office is seeking two experienced and senior Program Coordinators to undertake a range of activities to support the Senior Responsible Officer and the Indigo Program efficiently and effectively in collaboration with other teams in the Organisation Transformation Group (OTG) as required.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys working on a diverse range of activities in a dynamic transformation environment.

As the Program Coordinator, you will work closely with Assistant Directors to provide support to the Indigo Program Office.

This includes collating and analysing information to support program governance, assurance and reporting activities, drafting, and updating program documents, monitoring, and updating program registers, scheduling committee You will engage with the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office, Executive Support staff and colleagues across the AEC to deliver high quality advice and outcomes for the Program.


The Program Coordinator - VMO is an ongoing opportunity and supports the Indigo Vendor Management Office in the management of contracts and related reporting across the Program, and the Group more broadly.

The additional Program Coordinator position, non-ongoing, is a six-month opportunity with the possibility of extension.


To excel you'll have:

  • Ability to carefully follow established processes and procedures, identify areas for improvement and suggest innovative solutions.
  • Confidence and ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and negotiate with team members, business areas and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality program documentation, including reporting and perform quality review.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve highquality strategic outcomes.
  • Welldeveloped organisational and time management skills with the ability to proactively manage responsibilities and priorities.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in project and/or program management and familiarity with program and/or project governance structures and reporting.
