Your Opportunity:


As the Director, Early Childhood Education and Care you will:

  • Lead and strategically manage the assessment, regulation and performance of early childhood education and care (ECEC) services in the region.
  • Support the development and effective operations of ECEC services and programs, and a holistic approach to early childhood education and care service delivery across the region.
  • Lead strategies and programs which will support the seamless transition of children and their families from early childhood education and care programs to school.
  • Monitor regional issues and provide timely advice to the Regional Director and the DDG, Early Childhood Education and Care Division to ensure policy direction and practice are informed by emerging issues and trends related to ECEI services and programs.
The Director, Early Childhood Education and Care reports to the Regional Director.


Your Role:

As the Director, Early Childhood Education and Care you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Strategically lead and direct the provision of ECEC services across the region including the management of systems and processes to support approvals, quality assessments, ratings, and compliance and enforcement activities in accordance with relevant national and state legislation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Early Childhood Education and Care Division to support high quality service outcomes for the early childhood sector.
  • Provide consistent high level strategic advice, data, briefings materials and reports to inform executive decision making.
  • Identify and address emerging issues and trends that impact on service delivery and develop appropriate responses to ensure that services continue to align with evolving requirements.
  • Manage the performance monitoring of funded ECEC services.
  • Build and sustain collaborative working relationships with local communities, sector representatives and internal and external stakeholders to promote effective services and programs.
  • Provide strategic oversight to the reporting of regulatory outcomes and operations in accordance with legislative and nationally approved requirements.
  • Represent the interests of the department at local and regional forums, conferences and working parties.
  • Monitor performance and capability of staff and develop and implement strategies to strengthen knowledge, business systems and team performance to meet organisational and client needs.
  • Develop and implement robust complaints management and governance processes to ensure transparency in the administration of legislative and corporate obligations.
