Position overview


The National Executive Coordinator to the Chief Executive Officer and Principal Registrar of the FCFCOA ('CEO/PR') provides crucial assistance, support and advice to the CEO/PR to support the exercise of his statutory duties and day-to-day responsibilities across two extremely busy Courts.

Together, the Courts comprise 112 judges; hundreds of legal, social science and related support staff; registries and circuits across 43 locations; and responsibility for around 117,000 filings per year.

The National Executive Coordinator is an integral part of a national operations team, and supports the CEO/PR across the following key areas:

  • in the management and coordination of conferences, functions, meeting and key events involving the CEO/PR, Senior Court Executives, Registrars, Court Child Experts, Indigenous Family Liaison Officers and national operations staff of the Courts;
- professional education, wellbeing and induction programs for Registrars and staff; and
- with respect to important projects, including research and analysis, and high level administrative support.


Key Responsibilities and Duties


The National Executive Coordinator to the CEO/PR is responsible for assisting the CEO/PR with the effective and efficient management and coordination of the Courts' internal and external events, programs and communications, providing high level coordination, stakeholder liaison and administrative and logístical support.


  • Key events management and coordination_
The National Executive Coordinator to the CEO/PR provides for the implementation and management of a carefully designed national, regional and local program for the coordination of court events, functions and meetings (both annual and other), through well-planned timetables and ongoing management, facilitating a national framework within which the CEO/PR and other executives and staff engage in important internal and external interactions for both Courts


This work includes:

  • Providing high level administrative support to the CEO/PR;
  • Working closely with the CEO/PR's direct staff and the National Operations Team assisting the CEO/PR;
  • Proposing, scheduling, coordinating or supporting key events, such as:
  • events conducted and attended by the CEO/PR nationally;
- national meetings of Registrars, Court Child Experts, Indigenous Family Liaison Officers and National Operations staff;
- external events with the legal profession, Court user groups, Government representatives and other key stakeholders; and
- broader community engagement events;

  • Managing and coordinating key internal and external annual conferences and meetings attended by the CEO/PR, senior executive staff, Registrars, Court Child Experts, Indigenous Family Liaison Officers and staff;
  • Establishing and coordinating an annual events timetable comprising internal and external events;
  • Setting priorities and managing competing workloads to ensure quality output and meeting deadlines;
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, using clear communication to facilitate Court functions, planning of key internal and external Courtrelated events;
  • Liaising with Senior Executive and national operations staff to support committees and working groups, including the coordination of annual diary and other administrative support;
- coordinating submissions from all areas of the Courts for high level meetings with key stakeholders; and
- supporting various committees and working groups, including assisting with projects and research and preparing agendas and issues papers.

  • Professional education, wellbeing and induction programs for Registrars and staff_


Supporting the CEO/PR to ensure a safe work environment and modern and effective staff conduct and wellbeing policies and programs, the National Executive Coordinator coordinates, or supports others in coordinating, comprehensive programs for the education, training and wellbeing of Registrars, Court Child Experts, Indigenous Family Liaison Officers and national operations staff.


  • Projects and Administrative Support_
The National Executive Coordinator supports the CEO/PR with key projects and administrative support, including:

  • researching and analysis, to assist with project and protocol development and training material, including on topical and emerging issues;
- assisting with the preparation of high level correspondence, presentations, conference papers, reports and submissions; and
- as required, supporting Court committees and working groups, including assisting with projects and research and preparing agendas and issues papers.


This is a busy role, requiring someone with agility and highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills, who enjoys working with a diverse range of people.
