Our Medical Affairs team advances patient care by engaging in scientific exchange with external medical experts and industry leaders ensuring the scientific value of our products is understood.

We connect, communicate and train internal employees to ensure a thorough understanding of the science behind the medicine and review further unmet medical needs to support collaboration to further differentiate our portfolio.


The MSL is responsible for ensuring that they are fully versed in the therapeutic area and up-to-date on: all major studies, both ongoing and completed; product information on our companies and other companies' relevant therapies; clinical data and relevant pipeline data to provide the most accurate data to Scientific Leaders and the healthcare community, in a balanced way, to improve patient care.

Being product and disease state experts who engage in non-promotional scientific exchange with Scientific Leaders or Key Decision Makers


What You Will Do

Responsibilities include, however not limited to:
The MSL's primary responsibility is to engage in non-promotional peer-to-peer communication with medical/scientific information to Scientific Leaders and Key Decision Makers, based on scientific exchange and services oriented towards the stakeholder's professional interests & needs


They do this by:

  • Defining and maintaining a roster of Scientific Leaders and Key Decision Makers in their therapeutic area.
  • Utilising scientific and medical expertise to communicate scientific information in individual and group presentations.
  • Responding to unsolicited requests for medical, scientific, pipeline, Investigator Initiated studies or our company's product information from Scientific Leaders or Key Decision Makers utilising appropriate approved scientific materials and appropriately documenting the use of these resources.
  • Organising medical education, to improve quality use of medicines.
  • Supporting the identification of potential study investigator/sites for sponsored studies and working with clinical operations for successful implementation of studies.
  • Providing insights internally on scientific gaps, ideas and other topics gathered from scientific exchange to inform scientific responses, study areas of interest, clinical trial programs, development programs and company therapeutic area strategy.
  • Ensuring various engagement metrics (both quantitative and qualitative) are achieved.
  • Attending / participating in scientific congresses/meetings in Australia and internationally to understand the role of emerging data on patient treatment within the Therapeutic area covered, allowing for more balanced Scientific exchange.
  • Performing all company business in accordance with our company's policies and procedures and country regulations (e.g. MA Code of Conduct).

What You Must Have

  • Tertiary qualifications in a Medical degree; PhD, MSc or BSc in health sciences; or a pharmacy or biology degree.
  • Experience of pharmaceutical industry experience desired or experience in an infield customer facing role in the pharmaceutical industry, is preferred.
  • Clear and concise communication skills (verbal, written, presentations) and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in crossfunctional teams.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and a solid understanding of research methodology.
  • Ability to learn and convey medical/scientific information to healthcare professionals and decisionmakers.
  • Knowledge of Australian pharmaceutical industry guidelines (Medicines Australia Code of Conduct), regulatory/reimbursement framework and clinical research guidelines (National Statement, Declaration Helsinki).
  • Ability to travel and a driving license (3060% of the working week).
