What you'll be doing:


  • Lead the delivery of Community Development programming through effective project management, and evaluation.
  • Prepare and provide high quality reports pertaining to community development, capacity building and social inclusion projects and initiatives.
  • Provide timely advice to the Team Leader Community Development regarding community wellbeing indicators and emerging trends and issues pertinent to the development of Council policies, plans, and strategies.
  • Implement and/or execute, actions under the Council Plan, Social Justice Charter, other key strategies, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Facilitate the progress of community capacity building projects and initiatives that enhance wellbeing, improve safety, celebrate diversity, inclusion and strengthen community and social cohesion.
  • Liaise and collaborate with Council departments, the community, and other stakeholders.

The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:

  • Knowledge of community development, inclusion, and social justice principles.
  • Interpret, present, and convey sometimes complex information to different audiences using a range of mediums.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain cooperation and assistance from other employees, service providers and the community.
  • Build and develop positive relationships with community members, organisations, and key stakeholders.
  • Skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning, and organising one's own work to achieve specific and set objectives within the resources available and set timeframes.
  • The ability to conduct research, analyse and present data.
  • Understanding of the political, social, and legal environment and organisational context of Council.
  • Maintaining a knowledge of and working within Organisation Policies and Procedures including WHS, EEO and Code of Conduct.

Required Certifications & Qualifications:


  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field, with a focus on community development and some relevant experience, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience.
  • Current driver's licence.
