Job Description Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical & Electrical Services Manager to join Service Stream team bases in our Bendigo office.

About the Role

Currently we have an opportunity for a M&E Services Manager to join our Coliban Water contract team.

Primarily based in the city of Bendigo, the position provides an opportunity to work within a dynamic team and take an active role in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater network and treatment facilities, providing a high level of technical expertise to improve the performance of Coliban Water's assets.


Working collaboratively with the whole contract management team and the client to identify asset management improvement initiatives that deliver improved OHS outcomes, asset efficiency, reliability and/or financial savings.

Your responsibilities will include a combination of site-based supervision, delivery of asset management improvement programs, works scheduling and providing technical input to the asset renewals/rectifications, procurement and ensuring safety and quality across M&E works delivery.

Key Responsibilities

This role is responsible for the safe and efficient M&E reactive and planned maintenance activities required to operate and maintain Coliban Water assets


You are required to:

  • Understand and comply with Service Stream's safety/environmental policies and procedures, and promote health, safety, and environmental initiatives in the field and across the business;
  • Manage the effective and efficient rectification of asset faults within priority time frames, across multidisciplined operations (emergency & planned works)
  • Delivery and optimisation of the Annual Works Plan for planned maintenance programs.
  • Oversee and manage the Mechanical and Electrical Services Department's actions to improve productivity and performance;
  • Oversee and manage the Mechanical and Electrical Services Department's actions in providing technical support for client representatives, management, and field personnel;
  • Ensure that all appropriate field data is collected, assessed for accuracy, managed, and meets the both the client's and our internal requirements;
  • Approve the preparation of estimates and quotations within delegation limits;
  • Approve purchase orders within delegated authority limits;
  • Prepare any reports and other documentation required by senior management;
  • Ensure that all relevant policies, procedures, and records are accurately maintained.
  • Consistently provide professional and courteous customer service to end users across the Coliban Water network
About You


To be successful in this role you will have 5+ of post graduate experience in a M&E operations and maintenance environment, ideally within the water/wastewater sectors.

You will also have a demonstrable track record in developing risk profiles, the implementation of risk management strategies, excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to foster strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.


  • You will be a team player, but also able to work with limited supervision.

You will also demonstrate and possess the following:

  • Have a solid knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and asset performance criteria;
  • Demonstrate your knowledge and commitment to Quality Management principles, OH&S, and the Environment;
  • Developing knowledge of theoretical and practical system operation for new, existing, and refurbished water industry infrastructure;
  • Experience in problem solving in stressful and tense situations;
  • Lateral thinking ability and a focus on continuous improvement and innovation;
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills;
  • Developing project management skills;
  • A current Driver's Licence;
  • Demonstrated productive performance in a team environment;
