About the Role

As the Investigation Support Officer the primary purpose of this position is to action formal information and document requests from State and Federal law enforcement and Government bodies to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Within the role, there are a number of key accountabilities including:

Information and Document Requests

  • Action and complete document requests, Police Name Checks, Court Orders, Notices, Warrants and Subpoenas in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
  • Liaise with law enforcement, Regulators, government bodies, solicitors and Courts regarding document and information requests.
  • Consult with Group Legal in the conduct of the above as required.
  • Liaise with all areas of the BOQ Group in the conduct of the above as required to identify and locate relevant records.
  • Prepare witness statements, affidavits and evidence certificates regarding information and document requests and provision as required.
  • Attend court hearings and provide evidence on behalf of the Bank as required; and
  • Assist in identifying and referring matters relating to money laundering and terrorism financing to the AML Investigation team in accordance with regulatory and Bank guidelines.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders requestors, including Law Enforcement and Regulatory agencies, Court Officers, Group Legal and Banking Operations.

Reporting

  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely records of all cases in line with Bank policy, procedure and regulatory expectations.

Other

  • Assist the Senior Manager and Manager Investigations to undertake projects or other tasks as required in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with the creation of a Fraud awareness culture across the Bank

About you

Qualifications:


  • Any qualification relating to fraud, investigations or regulatory compliance would be an advantage however not essential
  • Any basic legal training or education
  • A Commissioner of Declarations or Justice of Peace Qualification is desirable.

Experience:


  • Previous banking or regulatory experience is highly desirable
  • Any previous experience handling or preparing legal documentation

Skills & Knowledge:


  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
  • An understanding of the banking codes of practice and other relevant legislation including the Privacy Act and the various State's Criminal Codes is beneficial
  • Sound knowledge of bank products, processes and procedures, including both front and backoffice operations is desirable.
  • Welldeveloped communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to liaise with and forge strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders of many different levels and professions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and ability to rapidly acquire proficiency across various internal systems.
