What you'll be doing
The Dental Assistant Grade 1 has successfully completed a nationally recognised Dental Assisting Certificate course at Certificate Level III or qualifications deemed by the Ministry of Health to be equivalent.
Such employees commence and remain on Grade 1 year 1 until they obtain formal qualifications through study or recognition of prior learning.
The position undertakes dental assisting duties within Adult and Child Services
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (3 doses for Category A roles, 2 doses for Category B roles) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).
New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Selection Criteria
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant and/or successfully completion of a nationally recognised Dental Assisting Certificate course at Certificate Level III or qualifications deemed by the Ministry of Health to be equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge of current infection control practices
- Demonstrated high level effective written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and independently
- Current NSW Drivers licence Class C (or equivalent) and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving relatively long distances within the Local Health District.
