FIFO and DIDO opportunities are available and, applicants may be based in Perth or regional centres (Geraldton, Busselton, Broome or Albany) dependent upon site requirements_.

Advisors, Indigenous Support underpin and promote Rio Tinto Iron Ore's (RTIO's) Indigenous Employment Strategy within our Pilbara Operations. This role focuses on four core priorities that will involve supporting our Indigenous team members, retention and development, providing guidance to business leaders, and promoting a culturally safe workplace.


This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys creating business value through the fostering and creation of relationships that partner with a wide range of communities and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Superintendent, Indigenous Support, your responsibilities will include:


  • Focusing on retention that is underpinned by cultural sensitivity.
  • Providing ongoing mentoring and support to all Indigenous employees throughout their employment.
  • Support Leaders and Indigenous employees to engage in meaningful development conversations aligned with their aspirations.
  • Linking business and community on cultural and operational matters.
  • Collecting information that supports work to deliver on commitments with local partnerships including milestones, performance, and valuebased outcomes.
  • Undertaking activities to maintain compliance with Communities and Social Performance, legal and other commitments, and company policies.
  • Coordination and participation in local cultural events.

What you'll bring

We're inviting the Traditional Owners on the land where we operate and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people to apply.

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Previous experience working with Pilbara Aboriginal people and communities.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, coaching, and providing case management or counseling to others.
  • Confidence in building strong relationships with site leaders and networks.
  • Be a team player and work independently.
