This role is responsible for leading the Acciona Energia's Electrical Engineering Team.

The role will provide both people and technical leadership to the electrical engineering function in supporting the business' delivery of renewable energy projects through all phases including early prospection, construction, and operations.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, this role is primarily office based in Melbourne with occasional travel to construction, operational and development sites.

Job Description
People leadership

Proactive management of the team's competing work priorities in a fast paced and dynamic environment to ensure business objectives are met

Development Projects

Early project phase network connection feasibility assessments, design optioneering studies, value engineering, risks, safety (including Safety in Design)
Work collaboratively with grid connection team to develop of electrical balance of plant design solutions that support the project's NER compliance
Engagement with TNSPs and private grid network operators to confirm physical connection constraints and requirements for development projects
Management of concept and detailed design delivery for primary, secondary and SCADA system designs for primarily wind farms, solar farms and BESS projects
Participate in project constructability reviews including site based and desktop assessments
Ensuring team's compliant review (and in some cases formal approval), of primary, secondary and SCADA system designs.
Manage the team's engagement with the wind farm, solar farm, and BESS OEMs to define project SCADA system architecture and performance requirements
Support project CAPEX and construction schedule development for project financial investment decisions

Construction Projects

Perform engineering due diligence reviews and design management for design works outsourced to external consultants/contractors
Develop contract technical specifications and scopes of work and assist with the negotiation of procurement agreements for electrical design and construction works.
Provide support to the Project Delivery Teams through the construction and handover phases. Support requirements including responding to construction RFIs, resolution of design implementation issues. Occasional site visit will be required.
Coordinate the team's support of the Project Delivery Team with the onsite project energization and commissioning process including SCADA, protection systems commissioning, and NER hold point testing

Operations

Provide technical advice on electrical engineering failures or incidents.
Provide technical advice for upgrades or modifications to operational infrastructure.
Develop contract technical specifications and scopes of works as required to support operation phase rectification works
Provide commissioning support to the operations team for system upgrades when required

General

Provide professional electrical engineering advice regarding inhouse developments, bids and delivery of thirdparty Engineering, Procurement and Construction projects and operational assets.
Assist in the development of tender documents for submission of external bids and other contracting opportunities.
Maintain strong working relationships with headoffice, internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain and improve the technical standards and company procedures.

Required Skills and Competencies

Significant experience (3+ years) in managing a team with a commitment to a career in people and organizational management in a technical environment
Experience in the design and construction of grid connected power generation projects
Degree in electrical engineering
Strong experience and foundation (8+ years) in a technical role in the areas of primary, secondary and/or SCADA systems
Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
