The role
We currently have an opportunity for a Kitchen Hand to join our Sydney Catering Team on a full time, permanent basis.
This is a hands-on role which will see you responsible for the cleanliness and hygiene of designated kitchen areas and related equipment.
- The orderly and efficient storage of all supplies and equipment as required. Follow receipt of goods procedure and rotate stock accordingly.
- Provide assistance with basic food preparation as directed by the Chef(s).
- Clean and maintain all designated kitchen areas, appliances, utensils, and tools including canopy and range hoods, fridges and cool room, grill and deep fry bays.
- Removal of all garbage/recyclables from kitchen area to designated waste area.
- Ensure cleanliness of kitchen and operation of industrial floor cleaning machinery
- Monitor stock levels and liaise with Executive Chef and suppliers
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of mobile kitchen equipment and trestle tables for events
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in performing a similar role
- Appreciation of the legislation governing food service hygiene
- Sounds knowledge of the appropriate use of cleaning chemicals
- Knife/equipment handling skills
- Good general knowledge of the operation and cleaning of equipment
- Ability to work autonomously and efficiently under pressure
- Reliable, highly organised and a 'can do' attitude
You will also be a positive, proactive, friendly individual with a desire to provide exceptional service to clients, partners and employees.
Please note that this role has a physical element and specific physical duties will be required to fulfil this role.
