Who are we looking for?


Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Research Information Officer to join Office of Research Services, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.


The Research Information Officer will provide administrative and operational support of research management systems to deliver high quality outcomes in relation to the University's research data, research platforms, and research reporting capabilities.

The position is part of the established Research Information and Systems Support (RISS) team in the Office of Research Services (ORS).

The incumbent will be required to enrich research data, ensure data integrity, and enhance reporting capabilities.

About the Academic Division
The Academic Division is responsible for supporting and delivering learning, teaching, research and research services to students and staff. This is realised via the Education and Research portfolios and through the work of our Faculties.

The Head of the Academic Division is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic), Professor Robina Xavier. Professor Xavier provides strategic oversight and financial management of the Division and provides leadership to the Education portfolio.


The Division's Research portfolio and academic faculties, are led by the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research), Professor Christopher Barner-Kowollik.

You will demonstrate:

  • Education, training, and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of a degree with extensive experience in data management and systems support.
  • Demonstrated high level digital literacy and competency in the use of information technology, in particular data management concepts, development of dashboards and reports, and the ability to translate complex data issues into practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills relating to interpretation of data, information, policies and procedures with reference to corporate research data management, research quality, and research performance.
  • Demonstrated problemsolving skills to improve data integrity, enhance system functionality, and implement robust business processes.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise and consult with end users and key business partners to positively influence operational decisions and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to be agile to meet overlapping deadlines and effectively manage competing priorities with a commitment to providing high quality support services.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting a corporate data management platform including system configuration, issue management, and vendor engagement.
