About the role


This position is responsible for providing recreational planning, strategy and policy development advice to Council in order to inform, guide and improve the provision of Council's sport, recreation, park and open space facilities and services in response to the diverse needs of the growing community.


On a daily basis you will:

  • Undertake the strategic planning for recreation within City of Parramatta Council specifically in relation to the planning, development and management of Council owned sport, recreation, park and open space facilities.
  • Prepare, monitor, and implement sport and recreation projects aligned with Council's strategic direction and sport, recreation, park and open space strategies, plans and policies.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high levels of engagement and communication including community groups, sporting associations, professional groups, and other levels of government in the planning of sport, recreation, park and open space services, facilities, programs and projects.

About You

Qualifications:


  • Tertiary qualifications in Recreation, Sport and Leisure Administration, Recreation Planning, Park or Open Space Management or a related discipline.
  • NSW Class "C" License.

Experience:


  • Demonstrated professional experience in Recreation and Open Space Planning (preferably within a local government context).
  • Demonstrated project and resource management experience

Skills:


  • Demonstrated understanding of recreation planning and parks and open space management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge or the sport, recreation, park and open space industry.
  • Sound planning, organisational and time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities.
  • Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills combined with the ability to convey complex and technical information.
  • Clear and concise communications and negotiation skills and an ability to relate to diverse staff and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills.

We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $113,848.01 to $125, % Superannuation.
