About this Role


Our Community Recovery and Resilience Officers will work with residents across the Latrobe City affected by the 2021 Flood and Storm event to implement and evaluate initiatives and events that will lessen the impact of the flood and storm event on those impacted communities.


You will perform a range of duties including:

  • Facilitating community education in relation to emergency preparedness.
  • Implementing and evaluating initiatives and events that will lessen the impact of the flood and storm event on those impacted communities.
  • Supporting and encouraging individual and community selfreliance and empowerment and where possible will add to the sustainable social infrastructure of these communities.


This is a great opportunity to put your community engagement skills and experience to good work to encourage individual and community self-reliance and empowerment.


About You


You will be responsible for building on existing programs and strategies and facilitate other community building activities already operating with the affected areas.


You will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in social sciences, community development or related field would be highly regarded but is not essential.
  • Demonstrated skills in, and knowledge of community development.
  • Experience in emergency recovery in communities.
  • The ability to clearly communicate information in both a written and verbal form.
  • An understanding of the principles and practices of project management along with welldeveloped time management skills.
  • The ability to adapt, approach and work to changes in the environment.
  • A current drivers license.
