What's the job?

This role reports to Lisa Wilson, Senior Success Coach.

The intention of the success coach team is to facilitate, nurture and empower those seeking to improve their university experience and their employment prospects.

Through coaching and connecting with peers, academics, and industry the Success Coach employs the Torrens University coaching philosophy to help students explore their journey as an individual, as a member of a team or as a whole university community.

We aim to build positive relationships, grow caring cultures, and develop connected communities where students feel heard, where they can shine and where we co-create learning communities.


Day-to-day accountabilities:

  • Work with Academic teams to take custody of a cohort of students, documenting their career goals and ambitions and building their employability skills
  • Deliver and host relevant workshops and group activities to assist students to identify and play to their specific strengths and capabilities and achieve academic success
  • Help students complete their TGE Professional Assessment and maximise the development of LPA competencies, through the lens of their chosen industry or profession
  • Set up a schedule of coaching conversations, reaching out to students to make sure they're on track, they understand what's required for success, they stay connected with the broader student community and they get the help they need at the right time
  • Advise students on progression through their course, including choosing electives and maintaining their study load, ensuring students stay on track to reach their career goals
This is a Permanent Full-time role based our Surry Hills campus in Sydney.

Who you are

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Coaching certification or experience in improving motivation and performance through coaching conversations (strengths-based coaching or positive psychology preferred)
  • Someone with demonstrated industry experience in health or education
  • Customer focused, able to deliver a high level of service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional communication skills and relationship and networking skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of career management and employability skills in the relevant field, including recruitment practices and early career success
  • A passion for education and helping student in getting work ready
