Aspect Personnel has partnered with a firm that provide Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) across various locations in Victoria for people with complex and high disability support needs.

The opportunity is unique and highly rewarding.


With the delivery of their SDA homes across both metropolitan and regional areas rapidly expanding, they are currently looking for a Town Planner to assist its team in securing planning approvals for their extensive list of projects across their portfolio.

As part of the role, the Town planner would be exposed to every facet of the town planning approval process and assist in guiding the business through planning issues that may arise through the process.


The Town Planner would be responsible for:

  • The provision of practical and expert planning advice to the Development and Planning Manager and their internal multi-discipline teams.
  • The preparation of planning reports and relevant documentation in support of SDA developments.
  • Developing positive relationships with Council officers and other key stakeholders involved in the planning process.
  • Coordinating/project managing consultants to ensure timely and positive project outcomes.
  • Assisting management with the successful delivery of planning projects.

Key requirements for the role(s) will be:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in urban planning or similar
  • Detailed knowledge of the Victorian Planning system
  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a town planner in local government or planning consultancy is preferred.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise written reports
  • Demonstrated experience in 'medium density housing' projects
  • Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously in a fast paced environment
  • Strong project management, problem solving and project delivery skills
  • A high level of professionalism and technical understanding when dealing with all relevant stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Proven capacity for conceptual thinking with an eye for detail and strong task focus
