An exciting opportunity exists to join the Western Public Health Unit as a Environmental Health Officer (EHO). Full or part time until 30 June 2023.


The Environmental Health Officer (EHO) will be responsible for the investigation, surveillance and control of cases and settings associated with notifiable conditions, including conducting case interviews, assessing high risk settings and identifying and actioning public health control measures as required.


Working closely with the Team Lead, the EHO will conduct interviews, identify high risk groups and provide public health recommendations.


The Western Public Health Unit has been established to strengthen the public health response to infectious diseases and other health issues.

The Unit is part of a system of three metropolitan Public Health Units, Western (WPHU), North-eastern (NEPHU), South-eastern (SEPHU) and six regional Public Health Units providing a state-wide system of public health delivery and oversight.

About You

To be succcesful in this role, you will have;

  • Demonstrated experience as an enviromental health officer, including demonstrated knowledge and experience in public health theory and practice
  • A passion for placed based approach to public health
  • A desire to tackle health inequity
  • High levels of technology literacy with ability to learn and master online data reporting tool(s)
  • Participate in WPHU's afterhours on call roster
